Using the swift programming language on Playdate

Looks promising. I'm holding off on trying development for this platform until Swift is viable just because I like developing in it. Sure, I could use C, or learn Lua, but I'd rather use Swift if possible.

Does anyone know why Swift wasn't one of the officially-supported languages? It seems like Panic could be reducing friction and leveraging many thousands (millions?) of iOS developers just by supporting Swift as a first-class language.

Swift devs released a blogpost describing the use of embedded mode in Swift to make Playdate games: Swift.org - Byte-sized Swift: Building Tiny Games for the Playdate
