I am currently on 2.7.2, but have noticed this as a pattern since 2.6.2. I haven't been able to connect to servers in many contexts for sometimes days, then, suddenly I'm able to connect again.
I've noticed this while:
Updating games
Refreshing the catalog
Checking for system updates
Linking/registering the device
Fetching/submitting leaderboard data
Connected to the simulator I see this exact error message frequently relative to logging around making network requests in both games and system apps: query error line 285,0: Error response
On the device I usually see something like "Internal error 0"
I've tried completely forgetting a network and then re-connecting, but often the best remedy is to just wait and hope it works eventually.
Everything on my network behaves just fine otherwise I would suspect my router, but are there any other steps I can take to troubleshoot this further?
I am hesitant to mark this as an answer, but rebooting my router seems to have helped and I'm able to download games again.
I would really like to discover what the root cause of this issue is however, so I may update this thread with more information as I come across it for documentation purposes. If anyone has anything they'd like to add or share please feel free!
I'm curious, have you noticed this behavior on other routers/networks? It sounded from your post like you had tried multiple access points, but it wasn't explicit.
I have not. I haven't had an opportunity to try other networks that don't require some kind of browser login. But even without testing on other networks it seems pretty likely that it's a problem with my router. Or perhaps a problem with my router that my other devices handle more gracefully.
If you end up wanting to try another network out of curiosity, your phone is likely able to create a 2.4Ghz hotspot without a browser login. I use mine with my Playdate regularly without issue.
