I know this sounds like a dumb question, but how do you do the fin function without a message? the reply's here are my only hope.
I think you cant do that unfortunately.
well that stinks. i hope they add that soon
We had a look at this in Discord today, and I believe you can do it in a slightly hacky way. Under the hood, fin only shows the text box if there’s text supplied, but the editor checks for text presnt - you’re not allowed to enter an empty string.
Fortunately, fin also supports string formatting, which means you can supply an empty text variable to fool the editor, and then pulp will avoid showing a text box when it actually runs:
dummy_fin_msg = ““
fin “{dummy_fin_msg}”
This should immediately restart the game (calling the finish event on the game script in the process, as usual).
One caveat: You can’t do this inside a wait call - for some reason, the game stops but doesn’t restart.
(As a bonus hack, it turns out fin also supports text box positioning but this isn’t documented, eg:
fin “Bye” at 0,0,24,14)
Hope it helps!
Argh, I spoke too soon - this doesn’t work at all, sorry for the misinformation ![]()
