Hi everyone! ![]()
This is our first post here, and we’re excited to join the community! We are an indie game studio from Japan that creates both digital and analog (board/card) games. This is our very first challenge developing for the Playdate!
Our game, Flip-Flap Crank, is designed to utilize the crank 200%. It’s a puzzle game where you rotate the crank to reassemble jumbled-up flip-book animations.

Coming from a board game background, we always start by making paper prototypes. We discovered that the act of physically reordering scrambled animation cards was surprisingly fun as a puzzle. Since the Playdate has the perfect crank for "flipping" through animations, we knew we had to bring this concept to life on this tiny handheld!
How to play:
-
Use the D-pad to grab a frame.
-
Rotate the crank to shift its position in the sequence.

Once you think the order is correct, hit the check button. If the animation flows perfectly, you clear the stage!

We’ve just finished all 28 stages! Yesterday, we did a full playtest from start to finish, and it took about 1.5 hours to complete all the puzzles.
Pricing Question: We are currently thinking about the price. We’re considering $3 USD, but we’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you think this is a fair price for this kind of experience?
We’re aiming for a release next month. Looking forward to hearing your feedback!
