I'm a bit frustrated and I'm starting to get tired of using PlayDate….
Since version 3.0 PlayDate often crashes with errors. so after a while, I launched PlayDate and upgraded to 3.0.3, thinking everything would be fine and I spent a few hours creating folders,etc.. and suddenly, while using the GUI, I got the error "listviewlua:335 attempt to index a nil value (filed 'title')". I entered recovery mode, and the previous version installed, but it's the same. The error is in a loop, and I can't exit it.
Is it really impossible to thoroughly test this software? Such errors should absolutely not occur.
If I have to go below version 3.0 again (if it's possible) or do a factory reset, I don't want to use Playdate anymore
UPDATED: now im stuck on (after clicking pinhole to try force reboot) on :
CoreLibs/graphics.lua:541: invalid bitmap size: 0 x 14
f3c10298-3.0.2-release.196426-gitlab-runner
My playdate also got stuck in this e1 error loop yesterday with the “CoreLibs/graphics.lua:541: invalid bitmap size: 0 x 14” error. Have tried hard restarting, recovery mode, etc. and nothing has worked. This crash also first occurred while organizing a game in the “Game Library” app. Any updates on this?
I reported it to support, and they told me to try recovery, restarting Playdate, etc - no offects ofkorz. I'm waiting for a response now. Here: Reddit - The heart of the internet Someone wrote that they finally asked to send the Playdate back....
I’m going through the same process now and support is having me try the same things. I’ll let you know if there are any updates on my end.
I'll let you know.
I don't know what the point of sending the Playdate back is... I'll be sending the device to another continent and waiting two months for them to factory reset it in a minute and send it back... and what if the error pops up again?
It should be possible to factory reset it without entering the menu, or to flash new firmware yourself. However, someone somewhere on the forum wrote that each firmware is compiled for a specific device, so there's no generic firmware. All they had to do was send the image and give instructions on how to do it themselves, and that's it.
Any updates on this? Still stuck with the same error on my end.
they send me firmware with key for my device to upload it to the device with playdate utility tool. i tried but without sucess. i got satuses like: "waiting for playdate disc" -> "installing firmware " -> "waiting for playdate disc" ->"playdate disc not found" and sometimes"unpacking firmare... etc" but finally i have "update failed - device firmaware version is 3.02" i click reset playdate. and then playdate was unbriced but during wizard i had “update error - bundle install failed“ - that the current status
Just heard back from support, they’re having me send in the device
Try factory resetting in the PlayDate utility tool. Then the update process froze, but after the console rebooting, I tried again and it worked.
that worked! I was not aware of the utility tool before this
