Melkhior's Tower - Dev Log

Melkhior’s Tower is a game I’m currently developing exclusively for Playdate using the C SDK, and is a spin-off of my PC/Linux/Mac game Melkhior’s Mansion which was released back in January 2022. It’s not a straight conversion, it’s a different game.

I’ve recently started a dev log, so I’ve created this thread to post news of any updates. The dev log is hosted on Itch at: https://bitglint.itch.io/melkhiors-tower-playdate

Here’s a link to the YouTube playlist of videos that I’ve uploaded so far: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfcGeKZDeV5tNq4fNkl96Dh64jtLi11Vt

If you’re interested in seeing how the project progresses then please watch this space. :slightly_smiling_face:

That looks amazing! Thanks for sharing it with us! You mentioned that the game was developed in C? That’s cool and maybe you could try using Golang language instead of C next time. I think it might make managing everything a bit simpler

Heimdall was so great. “Here, have a keg of ale, now throw this axe at that person, try not to hit ‘em!” :joy:

It looks fantastic, right up my street, but it’s one of those games that passed me by for some reason.

Been tinkering with the title screen and screen transitions.

Some of the special baddies from the original Melkhior's Mansion will be making an appearance in Melkhior's Tower. Not 100% sure what they'll do yet, I need to figure that out.

I really like how well it reads, everything is so well-defined. I am having issues with making the sprites read and seeing this being so well-done is really eye-opening.

Thanks. I think the decision to double up the pixel size has helped, maybe. Also, the pixel artist (not me!) is really talented. I’m so lucky in that respect.

I’ve been playing around with how the A and B buttons are going to work. More info at the dev log:
