Most Pulp games crash on launch on v3.1.0-beta3

Iā€™m not on the beta preview myself but I just shared a playtest for a new pulp project and of the 5 people who have tried playing it, the 2 people on the beta report this error immediately on launch:

?:-1: attempt to index a function value (upvalue '?')
stack traceback:
    ?: in upvalue '?'
    ?: in upvalue '?'
    ?: in upvalue '?'
    ?: in function <?:3805>

It works without issue for the rest of us. To further quote a playtester who is on the beta:

okay- so all the pulp games I've sideloaded through the website seem to crash on launch with a similar error message to the one I sent you earlier. Whereas catalog pulp games like "eyeland" work fine.

The error happens regardless of whether the game was sideloaded via web or USB for those on the beta.

The other playtester on the beta then reported the crash on other pulp games including some from Catalog:

I also launched L2S On Reflection (Catalog, not jam version) and Hana and both crashed. So not just sideloaded for me.

I've edited the report as this affects some Pulp games from Catalog also.

We've got a fix in for this for the next beta, should be out in the next day or two. Huge thanks for the report!
