So, Whitewater Wipeout has global leaderboards... Will network functionality to allow such things for SDK games be made available at some point soon?

There are already a few forum posts discussing this from the past. The leaderboard API is only available to Season games for now. As far as I understand it, the Panic team is slowly working on some potential network features down the line, but there's nothing concrete for now on what that will be like.
Hello!
I just downloaded the SDK today and started reading through the docs. I noticed the JSON support and that got me thinking about web-connected games. I don't see a way to make HTTP requests. I was thinking about making a web-connected game with a leaderboard and this functionality would be pretty sweet if it doesn't exist today.
As you may know, Panic's building has a very cool sign that you can change at sign.panic.com (well, not at the moment, the power supply blew up). Since the Playdate was announced, I've wanted to build a Panic Sign client for it. Unfortunately, networking isn't present in the just-released SDK — with one exception:
simulator.getURL()
The Simulator can perform GET requests!
The Panic Sign API is pretty simple — a GET to /get/string to get a JSON blob of the current colors, and a GET to /set/top…
