Simulator Console window position and size not remembered between application launches (macOS)

TL;DR: Launching the Simulator seems to reset the Console window position and size.

Reproduction steps (probably obvious but just in case):

  1. Launch Simulator
  2. Open Console window (if not already open)
  3. Move Console window and resize it
  4. Close Simulator and relaunch

Expected: Console window retains previous position and size
Actual: Console window reverts to original position and size

This might not seem like a huge thing (and it isn't, compared to many other priorities I'm guessing!) but having to fiddle with the window position and sizing to return it to my desired screen location each time I restart the Simulator is a slight bummer :smiling_face_with_tear:.

(To clarify: the Simulator main window itself does retain its previous position/size, as expected.)

Thank you so much for reading and for all the wonderful work on the Simulator/SDK (and Playdate)!

Platform: macOS 26.3.1
SDK Version: 3.0.5 (though present in other recent versions too, maybe first seen in 3.0.0 but I can't recall for certain?)

I can’t reproduce this; I’m not sure why this wouldn’t be working. Hum.

Oh no! Well, this is wild but I just happened to update to macOS 26.4.1 and strangely, the window position is now being retained but sizing is still not :upside_down_face:?

I guess it's something going on with my setup but it's odd because I don't seem to have this problem with the main Simulator window (nor any other apps). I really appreciate you that you took a look!

I am on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.4, on a Mac mini M4. With version 3.03, the console window position and sizes are remembered, if that can help. I haven’t updated to 3.05 yet.

Thank you for confirming, @StephanRewind! And sorry for the bad report, @willco!

I’ll have to see if I can figure out what’s going on with my setup :face_with_spiral_eyes:.

I’ll try 3.05 to see if it’s any different, even though I doubt it. But I’ll report back if I can reproduce the issue.
