Best characters to assign for (A) and (B) button glyps when making fonts?

I thought I saw somewhere a recommendation on which characters to assign to be (A) and (B) button glyphs... and maybe some other Playdate-specific glyphs... but I can't find it.

Is there any recommended best practice or standard, so that different fonts can interchange easily?

The system fonts use Ⓐ and Ⓑ which is as close to a standard as you’ll get.
