I recently received a playdate console. After charging it, it then became stuck on the Register Device screen, even though I never selected a WiFi connection for it to use. Restarting the device or launching into recovery mode immediately returns to the same screen.
I’ve sent a message to Playdate support about this issue, I’m posting here as well in case someone can get back to me quicker.
For what it’s worth, you might ask in #troubleshooting on the unofficial Playdate Squad discord—it’s not run by Panic, but it’s pretty high-traffic: Playdate Squad
I would expect that screen to time out and show you an error after a short while, but if that’s not happening press and hold A+B+LEFT for about 10 seconds to restart the setup process. Hopefully this will let you enter valid WiFi credentials and get your device registered.
