Let's circle back to the demonic uprising | Dev Log

My friends and I started working on an idea of a J-RPG for playdate. After pivoting on the story, we've landed on this idea. The title is: let's circle back to the demonic uprising. It's a horror-comedy game where you play as a project manager at the Ministry of Normalcy Enforcement and Yield (MoNEY) - a secretive government agency that fights demonic incursions.

Think about it as a pokemon-style battles, where you choose the right team member to fight a demon. As any bureaucratic work environment, you will also need to fight your own battles by attending meetings, conference calls, etc. and the character uses his bureaucracy attacks.

We would love to get some early feedback on the concept and how it's looking so far. We've focused a lot on getting the game engine ready and some performance improvements. Before we sink too deep into this concept, we thought it would be better getting some feedback about it.

This is the opening screen. (Hopefully the conversion to GIF didn't make it too weird looking)

And waking up at your apartment in the morning. Converting the video to gif made it too fast... I swear the animation is smoother and slower than that

Thank you in advance for your comments!

I really can't describe how up my alley this whole concept is and how much I'm loving the artwork. If y'all decide to pursue this, it's easily gonna be my most anticipated game on Playdate.

Wow! Thanks for the encouraging words! We're definitely gonna keep pursuing this, unless the reaction to this idea is significantly negative.

I'll share more screens later, as the story is still changing quite a bit. Don't want to post anything too early and then completely scrap it.

Thank you for your interest! I'll DM you. I definitely need help with music. I've thought about composing it myself, but realistically speaking it would take me forever and I haven't recorded a song in more than 20 years...

Sharing a bit of progress, but still with some placeholder attacks and enemies. This is a scene going to the Infernal Tech (IT) department, which is infested with enemies (explanation about this will come in the story).
