WAV ADPCM files, Stereo or Mono?

Hello, quick question that I'm sure has been asked before but doesn't leap out on the forum.

WAV ADPCM files - stereo or mono? Is there any advantage to having stereo WAV files on the Play.Date given the size of the front speaker? Although having just typed that I realise there is a stereo audio jack in the device! I'll secure some cheap headphones tomorrow to try out.

Question still applies I guess, if I have a reasonable number of WAV files I want to add, mono files are smaller. Is there a noticeable difference in quality between mono and stereo WAV files on the hardware or with headphones?

What do folks generally use? Thanks!

If your game has a strong audio component, it could be useful. But you'll want to add a "please wear headphones" screen at the start of the game.

Also consider stereo mp3 if you are not stressing the cpu too much.

Finally, sound effects are rarely stereo. You can use a mono sample and pan it left or right.

Thank you Nino, superb advice! For me, primarily sound effects from a purchased lib so I'll convert them all to mono and save some space.
